    State Championship Scoring

For Triathlon and Duathlon, KOZ Events will continue to award 5-year age group awards on-site as usual.

HOWEVER — for Aquabike and Aquathlon, while only two age categories will be awarded on-site, the official State Championship scoring will use USAT 5-year age groups for all disciplines, including Duathlon, Aquabike, and Aquathlon.

    This means that:

    • After the race, the timing company will post full 5-year USAT age group results for Duathlon, Aquabike, and Aquathlon on the official results page.

    • Racers who place 1st–3rd in their 5-year age group in these disciplines will receive a congratulatory email with their official placing and a link to download their State Championship award certificate.

    • 1st place finishers in each 5-year age group will also receive a follow-up email with a link to purchase the exclusive 2025 California State Championship Jersey.

    Triathletes — Ceremony Recognition 🥇

All Triathlon State Champions will be recognized during the awards ceremony, where they will receive their official State Champion certificates in person. We’re excited to celebrate these achievements live on race day!

Triathlon Club Team Competition — How Scoring Works

We’re keeping it simple and fair this year with a cross-country style format:

    • Who counts: Any athlete from your club in any individual race (Tri, Duathlon, Aquabike, Aquathlon).

    • Scorers: Your club’s Top 6 finishers by overall place (lower place = better).

    • Team Score: Add those six places together. Lowest total wins.

    • Eligibility: A club needs at least 6 official finishers to post a team score. (DNF/DQ do not score.)

    Tie-breakers (in order):

    1. 7th finisher place (lower wins)

    2. Best single place from the club (lowest wins)

    3. Fastest single finish time from the club

    4. Coin flip (only if still tied)

    Example: If a club’s first six finishers place 2, 7, 10, 15, 18, and 22, the team score is 74. Another club with 3, 5, 11, 16, 19, 21 totals 7574 beats 75.

We’ll post club standings after results are finalized. Race hard, cheer loud, and have fun—every finisher can help their team!
